UNION COUNTY – Michael Whatley today hosted a press conference with Congressman Mark Harris (R-NC), and women’s sports activist Payton McNabb to highlight the importance of protecting women’s sports and standing up for the girls that have been harmed by the policies of Roy Cooper that encouraged biological males to compete in women’s sports, and stood against our families.
Whatley was joined by Payton McNabb, a North Carolina women’s sports advocate and Independent Women’s sports ambassador who suffered a life-altering brain injury after being struck by a volleyball spiked by a biological male competing on an opposing women’s team. The impact left her unconscious and resulted in lasting physical and neurological effects, including impaired vision, partial paralysis, and balance issues. Since then, McNabb has become a leading national voice advocating to protect women’s sports, testifying before the North Carolina General Assembly and joining President Donald Trump as his guest at a joint address to Congress, where he recognized her advocacy.

During today’s press conference, participants shared how Roy Cooper’s vetoes of bills to ban men from girls sports, stop the transgender mutilation of our kids, and the Parents Bill of Rights have hurt North Carolinians. Cooper’s disastrous policies have had a lasting impact on North Carolina as he stands with the woke left mob over our daughters and families.
“Roy Cooper is for men in girls’ sports, locker rooms, and bathrooms, and our girls deserve better. Time and time again, Cooper put our children at risk to appease the woke left mob. As your Senator, I will always put our kids FIRST. I will work every day to protect our families from the dangerous policies of radical leftists like Roy Cooper,” said Michael Whatley.
