GASTON COUNTY — Michael Whatley was joined Thursday by local leaders and job creators in Gastonia to highlight Governor Cooper’s failed record that resulted in everyday prices going up for North Carolina families. Whatley argued it’s easy to understand why Candidate Cooper is so upset about Governor Cooper’s policies that made North Carolina families suffer soaring healthcare costs, higher energy bills, and unaffordable housing.
Speaking at Trick Tank Portable Air Tanks, Whatley said North Carolinians can’t afford to add another six years to Cooper’s 40 year career as a Career Politician because Cooper made everyday life more expensive.
“North Carolina families are feeling the squeeze because of Roy Cooper’s failed leadership, which drove up the cost of living,” said Michael Whatley. “Working families deserve lower costs, more opportunity, and leaders who will fight to make life more affordable—not Roy Cooper’s agenda of higher energy costs which didn’t help working families but did let Cooper’s family cash in on the solar agenda Cooper was pushing.”
During the press conference, Whatley highlighted that under Cooper:
- Energy costs increased by roughly 30%.
- North Carolina ranked as the most expensive state in the nation for health care.
- Home prices in North Carolina increased by more than 50%.
Whatley pledged to fight for policies that lower costs, strengthen the economy, and restore the American Dream for working families across North Carolina.
